"I swore that I would do something the day Chanie died. I would not have my brother's death swept under a rug. If Chanie's life can save other children than I've done my work."
Gord Downie asked the nation to look North. "Do Something," he said. Let's continue the conversation and support the reconciliation process through awareness, education and action.
"The next hundred years are going to be painful as we come to know Chanie Wenjack and thousands like him but only when we do can we truly call ourselves, Canada."
"Music brings people together. So my function in anything I do is to help bring people closer in." - Gord Downie
Familyband Benefit Concerts was born to do just that - to build a community based on friendship, in celebration of the music we love. Using music, our goal is to bring Indigenous & non-Indigenous together in the spirit of reconciliation. The Familyband tour will include Tragically Hip inspired music from The Strictly Hip featuring special guest appearances by Indigenous artists.
Familyband was created by Jeremy Hoyle, lead singer of The Strictly Hip and Rob Ferreira from the Courage For Gord Foundation and Walk For Wenjack. Together, sharing a passion for music, community and friendship.
All proceeds from our events will support The Downie Wenjack Fund.
